Marietta joins in the fun in the Recreational Therapy Room at The Virginia Home. After months of exploring the stories in Leaving 1203, eight residents will create a work of art based on an object in the book that speaks to their lives. Will it be the eggbeater? Baseball bat? A flowering plant? A cast iron skillet? A lawnmower? A straw hat? A Christmas wreath? The North Star? This will be Marietta’s first art project party since she molded clay alongside residents when her mother worked in the Occupational Therapy Room. She’s bringing some of her favorite things from 1203 for a bit of show and tell. Mostly, she’ll listen and learn what their chosen objects mean to residents as she watches their creations come to life.
